Good News - the first-ever issue of the psychology department alumni newsletter, The Self Monitor (yup, I came up with that one!) is published. This newsletter features news about the department as well as updates on several of our beloved alumni.

Bungalow Colony
So when my mom was a little girl, she spent summers away from the Bronx in Ferndale, NY - The Catskills. I once saw a photo of her grandpa Dave with a t-shirt from these golden days - saying "Wiss Wigwam and Bungalow Colony, Ferndale, NY." I decided to surprise my mom and get her a t-shirt with this all imprinted on it. However, it turned out that the "Medium" shirts I ordered for her and for my Aunt Joan were "Medium" in kids' sizes!
Well, it turns out that the shirt fits Megan just fine!

Hawks for Eamonn!
Today, several folks from the New Paltz community (labeled the "Hawks for Eamonn,") walked in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's "Great Strides" event at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers. We raised over $1,000 for the cause.
Included in this photograph, from left (taken by Marcy Rynne), are: Heather Mangione (BA in psychology, 2007; current student in MA Psychology program), Kathleen Geher (Director of the Dual Diploma Program and lecturer in Psychology), Megan Geher, Maureen Kaddar (with son Daniel in arms and Olivia adjacent), Yoav Kaddar (assistant professor of Theatre Arts ... Yoav raised over $700!), Glenn Geher (team leader and Director of Evolutionary Studies (and associate professor of psychology)), Andrew Geher and Eamonn Rynne (held by Glenn Geher), Jeff Reinking (assistant professor of biology - holding Max and adjacent to Rachel Reinking), Sam Reinking (with baby Thomas in front pack), Katie Becofsky (BA in psychology, 2008), and Carolyn Mounteer (BA in psychology, 2008).
All proceeds are going to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Find out how you can help at: http://www.cff.org/.

NEEPS 08

So it turns out that the hair-brained scheme that I came up with after HBES 2006 - the NorthEastern Evolutionary Psychology Society (NEEPS) - was a great idea after all. Our 2008 conference, at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, was a huge success. Click here for some photos (thanks Jay Landolfi, New Paltz Psych department super-alum!).
Here's a pic of Steven Pinker giving the keynote address.
Commencement 2008

Well, another group of New Paltz students has graduated. Honestly, this is always such a mixed event for me - I'm so proud and happy for the graduates - and I'm always glad to meet the folks - but it's sad to say good-bye.
That one up top is one of Heather Hatt and myself. She took both my stats and research methods classes and lives to tell the tale! Great work Heather.
Next is one of super alum 08 including, from left, Downtown Ivy League Sean Brown (going to Columbia!), Tony "no bologna" DelPino, Aimee Hughes, and Andrew "the Rose" Rose.
Next is one of me and Aimee Hughes (talk about one of a kind!).
At bottom is a picture of one of our all-star graduates, Audrey Sheridan, with myself, Tabitha Holmes (next to me), and Melanie Hill (far left).
Congrats Audrey - you make us proud! Don't ever forget when we were Blue Men together for Halloween!
